Preparatory School: The Preparatory School is open to girls from two to eleven years of age, and boys from two to seven years of age. Applicants must be registered on the waiting list for admission as vacancies occur. Admission at any specified date cannot be guaranteed. Individual applicants for admission to Year 2 and higher forms take a written test graded according to age. Younger children are interviewed and must demonstrate the ability to conform socially and communicate. There are annual entrance examinations at 7+, 8+, 9+ and 10+. At eleven, the girls who have been successful in the 9+ proceed directly to the Senior School. Some girls from Preparatory School may be required to take the 11+ entrance examination. Senior School: Entrance is possible at all ages although the major entrance examination is taken in the Spring Term (January) for entrance in the September of that year, and the vast majority of girls are at least 10 and not over 12 by 31st August in the year in which the examination is taken (ie. the 11+ examination). There is no age allowance but the very young successful candidate is perfectly acceptable. Details of the examination will be sent on request. Selection is made after examination and interview. Foster Beaver Sixth Form College: Direct entry in the Sixth Form is dependent upon interview, the applicant's GCSE results and a satisfactory recommendation from the Head of the previous school. Girls already in The Girls' Grammar Senior School proceed directly into the Foster Beaver College. |
