World Challenge

World Challenge provides 1 – 6 week worldwide and home based adventures which teach life skills, stretch comfort zones and expand minds outside the classroom.  Each expedition is designed to foster team and leadership skills and the pre-expedition programmes see young people involved in planning, fundraising and learning skills to use on the experience of a lifetime!

What can you do on a World Challenge Expedition?

Anything is possible on a world challenge expedition.  Whether it’s discovering Europe’s myths and legends; trekking in Iceland, summiting peaks over 4000m; learning jungle survival skills in the heart of a South East Asian rainforest or volunteering in the communities of Africa.

  • World Challenge is usually launched up to two years prior to each expedition however; challengers have to be in U5 (Y11) to U6 (Y13) at the time of the expedition.
  • Pupils can begin raising expedition funds from the point that they decide to join the World Challenge Team which can be any time after the launch date and before the training expedition.
  • The Challenge location is carefully selected by the World Challenge Team long before the expedition itself is arranged.   For the 2012 expedition we at Bradford Girls’ Grammar School have chosen to go back to Malawi, Africa to continue our project work with our link schools; Chitala Primary and Kaphirintiwa Secondary.

What can World Challenge do for me?

Students who participate in a World Challenge expedition will embark on an amazing journey of self-discovery.  Education through experience is at the heart of the world challenge ethos.  This means that expeditions are packed with physical and mental challenges along with eye-opening cultural exchanges in some of the worlds’ most beautiful locations.    These life skills will not only aid personal growth, but can help secure university places and impress future employers.  Students can earn up to 70 UCAS points!

Further, expedition leaders ‘lead from behind’, encouraging students to work as a self contained team so that they can learn from mistakes and enjoy the personal rewards of success.

Rigorous and inspirational, World Challenge Expeditions allow participants to build strong friendships and gain confidence whilst having an amazing time!
