FOSTER BEAVER SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Preparation for Life at University and Beyond
The transition from GCSE to Advanced level studies is a significant one. Bradford Girls’ Grammar School prides itself on the fact that pupils adapt successfully and are able to transfer their skills to Higher Education and the world of work with equal success. This is in no small measure due to the excellence of staff who give considerable commitment and enthusiasm to their students.
Foster Beaver College provides a stimulating environment in which girls are encouraged to develop independence and initiative whilst achieving at the highest academic level and enjoying a diverse extra-curricular programme. It is a combination that has made us one of the leading schools in the North of England.
Bradford Girls’ Grammar School is a centre of excellence in the education of women leaders, and the range of subjects available at AS and A2 level is extensive. We give considerable care to ensuring that our pupils make selections that match their skills and aspirations.
- Our excellent pastoral care means that teachers understand the individual abilities and aspirations of each student and will work with them to help achieve their goals.
- Sixth Form students are assigned a personal tutor to support them through their A level studies.
- 4 subjects are generally chosen at AS level, with 3 of those subjects studied through to A2 level. This allows time for in-depth study alongside opportunities to explore the many activities available at Sixth form.
- The Advanced Extension Award is offered to challenge the most able students.
- The diversity of our academic programme ensures that our students develop a wide range of skills.
- The general studies programme, which all students study to AS level (and is available to A2), helps to develop critical thinking skills, encourages debate and provides access to a wide selection of outside speakers.
- The close contacts we maintain with Universities place us in a strong position to anticipate the requirements of admission tutors.
