Foster Beaver Sixth Form College – Enrichment through Extra Curricular Activity
Universities and employers are keen to discover how students occupy themselves beyond the academic timetable and at Bradford Girls’ Grammar School students are encouraged to develop leadership roles and to volunteer for Community Service. Students may undertake this within school, or outside. Many students applying for a medical school place often volunteer at a retirement home or hospice.
Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme and World Challenge
Sixth Form students are encouraged to plan and undertake an expedition with the support and training of dedicated World Challenge experts. In July 2010, there is an expedition planned to Malawi for students in years 11 and 12.
Mentorship
Students in Year 12 may volunteer to mentor pupils in years 7 and 8 – this gives Sixth Form students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and to foster an awareness of the wider school community.
Foster Beaver Sixth form college is open to girls aged 16 – 18. Direct entry into the Sixth Form is dependent upon interview, the applicant's GCSE results and a satisfactory recommendation from the Head of the previous school. Pupils from Bradford Girls’ Grammar Senior School proceed directly into Foster Beaver Sixth Form College.
