On Friday 22nd April, Lady Royd pupils were forgiven for not listening in class, or even for going as far as covering their ears. It was the Lady Royd staff karoake.
Various members of staff jumped at the opportunity to ‘channel their inner pop star’ and sing their favorite pop songs to an audience of fans.
Mr Warner and Mr Sheard presented a hilarious interpretation of ‘Wing beneath my prayers’, with Mt Sheard even bringing his own wings! – followed by Mrs Bell who covered a more modern song, ‘Crash’, by the Primitives..
Even the Principal Mrs Matthews was keen to take part, accompanied Mr Williams, to provide their own rendition of an Abba classic, ‘Dancing Queen’.
A firm favourite on the day was the new band ‘Wrong Direction’ , with Mrs Tozer, Mrs Ramsden, Mrs Leckonby, Mrs Taylor and Mrs Tattersfield.
But it was Mrs Leary, Mrs Rimmer and Miss Taylor with Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I will survive’ which received the loudest cheer and were awarded the clear winners.
Altogther the Lady Royd staff karoake raised over £200 for the cancer charity – Cancer Now.
