Lady Royd is proud to receive a Partnership Award from Bradford College which has been presented in recognition of the school’s outstanding contribution to teacher training.
Lady Royd worked closely with the College to establish a mentoring programme, which includes support, training and hands-on experience, to students who are completing their BA degree and QTS qualifications with a view to a career in teaching.
The award was presented by Sujan Kainth the College’s School Partnership Manager.
She said: “Any Bradford College student who spends time in a school as part of their learning can nominate it for the award. This year Lady Royd was one of five schools in the region who received a significant number of votes to warrant recognition.”
Mrs Leary, who coordinates the training and mentoring programme in the school, said:
“We are happy to continue to support this training partnership as it allows the school to mentor trainee teachers to our high standards and ensure they follow best practice.
“This is not only hugely beneficial for the school, as to date we have already recruited three new teachers who went through our mentoring programme, but we feel we make a positive contribution to ensuring the highest levels of quality teachers are coming through.”
