OLD GIRLS UNION (OGU) Founded in 1889, the purpose of the Old Girls’ Union is to enable former students to keep in touch with the school and one another and share experiences. There is no charge for membership and every student leaving the sixth form automatically becomes a member. All members will receive an annual invitation to the Bradford Girls’ Grammar School OGU Reunion Lunch and a copy of the Bradford Independent, the official school newsletter (preferably by email although we will post if required). In response to a number of requests, we no longer remove any OGU member from our database, unless requested to do so. Please pass on this information to any of your contemporaries, who may not be on our system, as we would be delighted to hear from them. We are extremely proud of all old girls’ contributions and achievements and under the direction of our new Headmistress, Mrs Kathryn Matthews, we aim to raise the profile of the Old Girls’ Union through improved communication links. After lunch there was chance to tour the Senior School and Lady Royd Preparatory School & Nursery as well as visiting the archives on display in the library. Everyone left having had a most enjoyable time, sharing happy memories with contemporaries and wearing a yellow button-hole carnation, a gift from the school.

THE LONDON BRANCH The London branch of the OGU meets twice a year. The next meeting will be on Saturday 22nd May,2010 at The Sloane Club, near Sloane Square. Commencing with lunch and followed by the OGU meeting which comprises an update of school news and a topical speech which is usually delivered by a London branch member.
