Careers and Work Experience
All students receive formal careers education from U3 to U6. The careers programme involves work-shadowing, attendance at careers conventions and university visits. Impartial careers advice and guidance is offered to all girls by way of an open door to careers resources and specialist staff.
At key times such as GCSE and A-level options, students are given an individual appointment to discuss their own needs and interests.
Throughout the year a series of visiting speakers from various professions and higher education deliver talks and presentations. This helps students decide on their choice of degree programme.
All L5 pupils take part in a 5 hour British Safety Council qualification ‘Hazard Awareness in the Workplace’ which helps them prepare for the health and safety issues they may encounter whilst on work experience.
Work experience
Work experience is offered to all U5 after their GCSEs within a field of interest. This provides a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the world of work. Many students have enjoyed fascinating placements, following which a number have been offered further voluntary work or part time employment.
