While the majority of senior girls automatically move up to Sixth Form, we also accept applications for students currently studying GCSE’s at other schools.
Both internal and external students will require 5 or more GCSE’s at grade point scores 9 to 6, and separate requirements may apply in order to study specific subjects. Students will also need to have secured their English and Maths to a minimum of grade 5, depending on their choices.
In order to support students wanting to study A level subjects that contain a high mathematical content – specifically Psychology, Geography, Business Studies and either of the three sciences – students will be offered the Core Maths module in addition to their chosen subjects unless they have already included Maths as an A level option or they are studying to re-sit their GCSE Maths.
In accordance with the school Admissions Policy, priority will be given to those girls from Year 11 who meet the entry requirements and request automatic transfer into the sixth form.
The remaining number of places will be offered to applicants being admitted from outside the school until Year 12 meets its capacity of 80.
Application Forms for September 2020 entry will be available from 7 January 2020.
We recommend that you first visit the school to get a feel for Sixth Form life.
The Sixth Form Information Evening offers the perfect opportunity for a tour of the Sixth Form college, meet existing students and discuss your options in detail with Sixth Form tutors. Representatives from the local universities will also be on hand to talk to you about life after Sixth Form, UCAS applications and degree options.
You will then need to complete both the Year 12 Application Form and a Subject Courses Form and forward these to BGGS by 13 March 2020.
On receipt of your application, BGGS will follow up on the references provided – Conditional Offers of a place in Sixth Form will be sent 27 March 2020.
All prospects that accept their conditional offer will then be required to attend a short meeting to discuss their subject option choices in more detail. Final confirmation of a place will be confirmed on GCSE Results Day.
