Guidance on Covid Measures in School - updated December 2021

BGGS will again be following the latest DfE guidance regarding the ‘system of controls’ and associated ‘control measures’ which have recently changed in light of the Omicron Covid Variant:

  • Year 7 and above MUST wear masks in all communal areas and corridors. They may remove face coverings in classrooms and when eating in the dining room
  • Students will be asked to observe the one-way system and should socially distance from others wherever possible.
  • All senior school assemblies will now be conducted virtually
  • Students aged 11 and above should continue to follow the advice to wear face coverings when travelling on public transport.
  • Hand Sanitisers / hand washing will be encouraged on entry and exit to the school building, to each classroom, and before and after eating.
  • Ventilation – We will ensure classrooms, offices and other workspaces are well-ventilated when they are being used.
  • Self-isolation - Pupils, staff and other adults should follow public health advice on when to self-isolate and should not come into school if they have symptoms, have had a positive test result or if required to quarantine. If anyone in school develops COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, they will be sent home and they should follow public health advice.
  • Contact Tracing – Close contact tracing and any subsequent advice will be provided by NHS Test and Trace. If your child is displaying symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 please contact Mrs Simon, Attendance Officer: as soon as possible.
