Guidance on Covid Measures in School - updated September 2021

BGGS will again be following the latest DfE guidance regarding the ‘system of controls’ and associated ‘control measures’ which have changed since the summer term:

  • There is no requirement to socially distance
  • Bubbles no longer exist, year groups can mix
  • Face coverings are optional whilst in the school buildings but are recommended to be worn on public transport.
  • Hand and Respiratory Hygiene - pupils and staff will be reminded to continue to wash their hands with soap and water or sanitise them regularly, and especially before and after using shared resources or equipment. Soap and water can be found in all washrooms; sanitisers are available at many locations on the school site and in all classrooms. The ‘catch it, bin it, kill it’ approach continues to be important.
  • Cleaning - An enhanced cleaning schedule will continue to operate this academic year.
  • Ventilation – We will ensure classrooms, offices and other workspaces are well-ventilated when they are being used.
  • Self-isolation - Pupils, staff and other adults should follow public health advice on when to self-isolate and should not come into school if they have symptoms, have had a positive test result or if required to quarantine. If anyone in school develops COVID-19 symptoms, however mild, they will be sent home and they should follow public health advice.
  • Contact Tracing – the school will no longer be required to carry out contact tracing and will therefore not be sending close contacts home. Close contact tracing and any subsequent advice will be provided by NHS Test and Trace. If your child is displaying symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19 please contact Mrs Simon, Attendance Officer: as soon as possible.
