Parent Governor Election

There is a vacancy for a second parent governor after the resignation of Mrs Lubna Khan at the end of last term and the Board would welcome applications from interested parents able to give time and commitment to this important role.

Parent governors play a vital role on governing bodies, holding the unique position of having a parental viewpoint of the school.  This enables parent governors to bring a different perspective to the strategic management of the school.  It is a very delicate role as its purpose is to bring a parental perspective to the issues discussed but not there to speak 'on behalf' of the parent body.

There are six Board meetings a year, as well as termly Committee meetings and papers in preparation for each meeting are sent a week in advance to allow time for reading.  In addition, we hold Strategy sessions and there is statutory training annually for safeguarding and keeping children safe in school as well as school visits.  There will be help for new governors with induction training and a mentor so that you are able to contribute as quickly as possible.  This does require a significant time commitment of a minimum of 50 hours a year but is most rewarding!

Details of the current members of the Board of Governors and relevant documentation can be found on the Governors page of the website.
